nfl-week-16-2012-fantasy-football-rosterThe 2012 NFL season is nearly over as we are now at Week 16, and this week our weekly salary cap leagues take us to DraftStreet. As a reminder, this site uses a $100,000 salary cap and the roster consists of 2 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 FLEX and 1 DST. We always fill the FLEX positions with running backs, so that means four running backs for us. This site gives four points for touchdown passes and 0.5 points per reception, so quarterbacks are less valuable.

We don’t splurge on elite quarterbacks, opting for value and upside instead. We did splurge on Adrian Peterson but feel we got good value on Alfred Morris and on the other two running backs that we filled our FLEX positions with. Here’s my lineup for Week 16:

QB – Colin Kaepernick, SF ($12,165) Just like the last three weeks or so, Kaepernick can always be started as long as he remains this cheap because of his running ability. He passed for 216 yards and four touchdowns while adding 28 yards on four rushes vs. New England.

QB – Carson Palmer, OAK ($11,997) Palmer only threw for 182 yards last week with the Raiders leading from start to finish vs. the Chiefs, but he is the king of garbage time fantasy points and Oakland might get down big at Carolina.

RB – Adrian Peterson, MIN ($16,435) Peterson is simply indefensible in his quest for 2000 rushing yards and the single-season rushing record. Tack on an incredible 212 yards vs. the Rams last week and an 82-yard touchdown run.

RB – Alfred Morris, WAS ($11,923) For whatever reason, Morris continues to be undervalued in these weekly salary leagues regardless of the site. This is great value for a guy that is third in the NFL with 1319 rushing yards, not to mention nine touchdowns.

WR – Dez Bryant, DAL ($12,111) Next to Calvin Johnson, Bryant just might be the next hottest receiver in the NFL right now for fantasy purposes as he has caught at least one touchdown in six straight games, totaling eight touchdowns in those contests.

WR – Danario Alexander, SD ($9,413) Alexander laid a goose egg vs. the improved Carolina defense last week after having 32 catches, 494 yards and five touchdowns in his previous four games. Look for a bounce-back with Rivers throwing more this week now that the Chargers are thin on healthy running backs.

TE – Brent Celek, PHI ($5,266) The last time Celek played a full game, he had seven catches for 73 yards. He is back from his concussion this week, making him a nice sneaky cheap pick-up.

FLEX – Darren Sproles, NO ($9,464) Sproles had only 22 rushing yards and 21 receiving yards vs. Tampa Bay after a huge game vs. the Giants two weeks ago, but he was targeted eight times vs. the Bucs and caught a touchdown.

FLEX – Vick Ballard, NO ($9,332) Ballard is the Colts’ only healthy running back and he rushed for 105 yards on 18 carries at Houston last Sunday.

DST – Minnesota Vikings ($1,640) We like to go cheap on defenses and the Vikings are worth a flyer at this discount price.

Total Salary: $99,746
